Office of the City Clerk

The Office of the City Clerk consists of the City Clerk Sonia Cuello and Deputy City Clerk Melissa Lopez.

The City Clerk is appointed by the City Manager and reports to the City Manager. The City Clerk is responsible for the records of the city and also city elections. While the records of yesterday were handwritten and later typewritten, today's agendas, minutes, ordinances and resolutions are prepared on computers and, while paper records are still maintained, records are now scanned and available for staff and the public.

The Office of the City Clerk is the information hub for the city by being the custodian of city records and responds on a timely manner to requests for records from the public.

The Office of the City Clerk, in keeping with its position of neutrality and impartiality, receives and distributes to the proper department any citizen petitions and complaints.

The Office of the City Clerk may be reached by calling (928)341-8520 or by fax (928) 341-8539.

When does the City Council meet?

The San Luis City Council meets every second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, located at 1090 E. Union Street, San Luis, Arizona.

How can I find out what is on the agenda for council meetings?

The agenda for each regular scheduled council meeting or any special session is available at City Hall at least 48 hours prior to the meeting. The agendas of the meetings are also posted at three different locations, which are City Hall, Police Department and the Fernando Padilla Community Center. Members of the public who have electronic mailing may be placed on the mailing list to receive the agendas of meetings on their email by calling the Office of the City Clerk at (928) 341-8520

How do I obtain a copy of a public record?

Copies of public records are available through a PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST at the Office of the City Clerk. Once a citizen has filled out a public records request form, the City Clerk's Office, routes the request to the proper department. Upon receiving the information requested by the citizen, the Office of the City Clerk will inform the citizen when the record is ready to be picked up. The fee per paper copy is $.25 for the first ten copies, after the tenth copy, each copy costs $.20. Payment is due upon receipt of the records.
