"BATTLE OF THE BADGES"
San Luis, Arizona – The San Luis Police Department presents its First Annual Battle of the Badges Boxing Show!
"FIGHTING OUT OF THE RED CORNER IS ….SLPD”
The San Luis Police Department is set to host the First Annual Battle of the Badges Boxing Show this Saturday, February 27! This high profile community benefit is a boxing event between the San Luis Police Department, El Centro Police Department, Yuma County Sheriff’s Department (YCSO) and many other public safety agencies with-in Yuma County.
The boxing match pits public safety officers against each other as they raise money for the San Luis PAL (Police Athletic League) program that reaches at risk youth and currently has 3,000 members and provides a variety of sports, educational and life skill courses.
“Sponsoring events such as the Battle of the Badges is a fun and important way to help our youth and give back to our community,” stated Officer Ernesto Prieto, “Our police organizations are an integral part of our community. By combining resources to provide a variety of programs such as PAL, are both a pleasure and an honor for me and, the rest of the SLYC family and the other public safety agencies participating in the Battle of the Badges event.”
Highlights of event will include:
• Opening fight - 13 year old girl junior champion winner.
• Surprise guest - MC from the “Boxing World”
• El Centro Police Department -vs. – Yuma County Sheriff’s Office showdown
General admission is $10. Age’s 6 – 18 admission is $5. Children 5 and under come in FREE. Admission will be sold at the door, no presales. Food and beverage sales and all other proceeds will go to benefit the San Luis PAL program.
Battle of the Badges event will be held at the San Luis Youth Center, 973 North Park Avenue. Doors will open at 1 PM. Event is scheduled from 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM.
