"SAN LUIS MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL REACH OUT TO YOUNG PEOPLE"
San Luis, Arizona –San Luis Mayor and City Council continue to offer young people a voice in San Luis.
During Wednesday night’s February 24th, council meeting, students from San Luis High School and Volunteer Leaders from San Luis’ Youth Center had the opportunity to meet their elected officials where they openly participated in the events of the evening including opening the meeting with the drop of the gavel, leading the Pledge of Allegiance and reading from the City Council Agenda.
“It is an honor to be able to interact among our community’s most promising youths,” said Mayor Juan Carlos Escamilla. “Through this type of outreach, our young people are learning about their local government, by engaging in the decision making process while building confidence and encouraging community awareness, educational leadership, and teamwork.”
Council for a Day
Council for a Day was developed to give young people a voice in San Luis, building confidence, and encouraging active participation in government. Council for a Day was founded by San Luis Mayor Juan Carlos Escamilla and City Council in 2008.
