"HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT JUNE 18-21"
San Luis, Arizona - An Extreme Heat Advisory In Effect For San Luis Yuma And The Phoenix Area From 10:00 A.M. Morning To 8:00 P.M. Thursday Night.
The National Weather in Phoenix has issued an Excessive Heat Warning - which is in effect from 10:00 a.m. this morning to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
- Avoid going outside, unless absolutely necessary. Stay inside, in air conditioned buildings, as much as possible.
- If you have to go outside, limit your time and exposure to the heat.
- Drink plenty of water. If your Physician has prescribed "water pills" or limited your fluids because of a cardiac condition, check with them before boosting your water intake.
- Be aware of the signs and symptoms of heat related emergencies; when in doubt: CALL 9-1-1
- Check on those who are at risk; the elderly and young.
- Do not, for any reason or for any length of time, leave a infant, child, elderly or pet inside of a vehicle. Temperatures within a closed vehicle can exceed 120°F within a very short amount of time.

That is why we urge the public to avoid strenuous activities outdoors, drink plenty of water wearing light and loose clothing.
Below you will find a few precautionary/preparedness actions to take:
- Take extra precautions when working outside.
- When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
- Know the signs and symptoms of Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke.
- Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing, when possible, and drink plenty of water.
- Do not, for any reason or for any length of time, leave a infant, child, elderly or pet inside of a vehicle. Temperatures within a closed vehicle can exceed 120°F within a very short amount of time.
Last be aware of the signs and symptoms of heat related emergencies; when in doubt: CALL 911.
