About Us: The first-ever city of San Luis youth council seeks membership in a diverse representation reflecting our community. The members of the San Luis Youth Council will be residents who are actively enrolled in public, private, and virtual schools in grades nine through twelve. The youth council will consist of no more than eight members at a time.
DemcraSeed: this year the San Luis Youth Council will be working with DemcraSeed as part of their 2018-2019 Cohort. With their assistance, we will identify and welcome young individuals in the community to serve.
Being a part of the SLYC members will be able to expand their knowledge on the community they call home. It will also offer an opportunity to bring out leadership traits that exists in our youth, including: honesty, intergrity, vision, confidence, responsibility, and loyalty. These are skills that will benefit the youth as successful leaders and team builders for their future endeavors
Must be between the ages of 14-18
Must be a San Luis High School Student
To be a part of the San Luis Youth Council, you will need to fill out the application and explain why you want to be a part of the Youth Council and what you would want to implement as a member.
Out of the eight members, four will be selected to hold the following chairs:
The San Luis Youth Council will meet monthly at the Council Chambers located inside San Luis City Hall, located at 1090 E Union Street
The mission of the San Luis Youth Council is to empower young leaders and to develop and cultivate effective leadership skills. Will be elaborated with the Youth Council once formed.
The vision for the San Luis youth council is to have their voices heard on what is needed in our community. Will be elaborated with the Youth Council once formed.
